Artist’s statement
My practice spans wall-based relief, objects, and large-scale, site-responsive installations presented internationally. My work negotiates the line between formal material, visceral inquiry and contextual research. My work increasingly engages with speculative historicism as a means of questioning the structures in which we live. Through a radical attention to the present moment, I speculate on possible pasts and futures as a way of deconstructing these systems and our place within them
An ecological imperative increasingly shapes my use of found materials, not only as a sustainable choice but as a conceptual strategy. These materials allow for an interrogation into value and use, questioning what is discarded and what is preserved. Since relocating to Cape Town in 2024, I have witnessed materials circulating differently, usefulness is prolonged, and objects carry heightened social and political weight.
