An Act in Parts – Part I, 2013
Supernormal Experimental Arts and Music Festival, Brazier’s Park, Oxfordshire, UK
Having taken part in the International Artist’s Workshop in 2010, I returned to make a work to accompany the Supernormal Festival in 2013. Braziers Park’s centre piece is its revivalist Strawberry Gothic building. Classical Extension imagined a Neo-classical wing in cast latex sheeting, eyelets and rope. Working for a week in situ with a set of components the work attached to the brutal contemporary addition of a fire escape.
An Act in Parts was a series of works undertaken in 2013 that utilises the same latex sheeting to create scenarios in different sites. The sheets have classical motifs across their surfaces and eyelets that allow them to be attached using rope to different structures. After each Part in the series the work is cut up and reassembled into different compositions, in response to the next site.
